This year the Spouses Group of the 19th
OSS and the 99th ARS – two squadrons of the 19th
Air Refueling Group “The Black Knights” – came together on a mission
of their own. Last year, one of the spouses developed and
survived breast cancer. This spouses group worked tirelessly
over the next few months to raise money to help others in the fight
against cancer. “This money was raised to help all women in
their fight against breast cancer,” said Rhonda Paulk, Senior spouse
and the group’s chair. “Since our community and family are so
important to us all, it seemed fitting that we give back to that
same community. That’s why we chose to give to the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. That money stays in our community and helps
others in their battle against this disease.”
The group raised money by holding taco sales, a
Bunko tournament, and an auction. In addition to that money,
the group donated personal funds to create a total donation to Komen
Central Georgia in the amount of $1,200!
The Spouses group will continue to provide
community leadership and support, all the while supporting their
spouses who are courageously defending our freedom every day.
The Susan
G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Central Georgia Affiliate thanks
you and your families for all that you do in the fight against
breast cancer and our fight for freedom.
