About Komen Grants

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is one of the nation's largest private funding sources for breast health and breast cancer. Since its inception in 1982, the National Foundation has awarded over 1,000 grants totaling more than $180 million for breast cancer research. Frequently, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the only source of funding for cutting-edge breast cancer research, some of which has led to landmark discoveries in the quest to find a cure for and eventually prevent breast cancer.

While funding is offered at the national level for research grants, the Central Georgia Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure supports a growing Community Grants program. Funding from the Community Grants Program is available to non-profit community agencies, educational organizations, and governmental agencies.

The Central Georgia Affiliate is proud to have funded $143,000 for local community outreach projects in 2007.
