Health Care Reform: Consider Cancer
The Komen Advocacy Alliance has received a number of inquiries about our position on health reform. Our position is as follows:
Cancer patients and survivors have some of the most challenging experiences with the health care system at a time in their lives when they are most vulnerable. That is why the Komen Advocacy Alliance is calling on Congress to consider cancer as they develop their health care reform plans. We want Congress to ensure access to affordable, high-quality health care for everyone, including people with pre-existing conditions like cancer.
Komen is not weighing in on some of the contentious aspects of reform, including the public plan and individual/employer mandates, or on the various options that have been proposed to pay for reform.
