Cancer Clinical Trials
Currently, there are hundreds of ongoing clinical trials in the United States.
Although clinical trials are an important component of cancer care and are crucial for improving cancer treatment, fewer than 5% of cancer patients currently participate in clinical trials because they are uninterested or unaware that they exist, have difficulty finding an appropriate clinical trial that may be of benefit to them, or are ineligible to participate in a clinical trial because of prior treatment interventions. To learn more about clinical trials, you can call the Medical Center of Central Georgia's Cancer Life Center at (478) 633-1738 or go to www.mccgclinicaltrials.org. Also remember that the Komen Helpline is a great resource - 1.877.GO.KOMEN

Lymphedema Therapy
Women who have had many lymph nodes removed or have had radiation therapy may develop lymphedema. If your physician diagnoses you with lymphedema, you may want to consider asking them about being referred to a lymphedema specialist.

Medical Center of Central Georgia - lymphedema specialist, (478) 201-6748

Nutrition Counseling
Nutrition consults may include a review of current dietary intake; medical nutrition therapy before, during, and/or after treatment; nutrition education; symptom managment; as well as nutrition support education and management as needed. If interested, you may want to contact a local Dietitian.

Medical Center of Central Georgia - Courtney Mosser, Dietitian, (478) 633-1966.
